In this guide, we’ll show you how to easily set up the IndexNow feature within Indexguru to automatically notify search engines like Bing and Yandex when your site’s pages are added, updated, or removed. This configuration ensures your content stays up to date in search results, boosting visibility.
The setup is straightforward and can be completed in just a few steps.
First, log in to your Indexguru dashboard and navigate to Indexing, then click Connections and IndexNow. You’ll see a configuration modal like this:
In the modal, you’ll find an automatically generated API key under the API Key section. This key is essential as it verifies your site ownership when communicating with search engines. If needed, you can:
⚠️ Note: If your API key is exposed to third parties, we recommend generating a new one to maintain security.
The API Key Location is a URL that should be publicly accessible within your site, this means you should upload the downloaded key to your publicly accessible site. The URL is typically formatted like this:
This is required to verify that you own the website you’re trying to index. Don’t worry; this process is completely safe.
You can double-check this in the IndexNow Website.
To ensure your API key is accessible to search engines, you need to upload the downloaded key file to your website. We recommend placing it in the root public folder of your website, like so:
https://yourwebsite.com/your-api-key.txt
This makes it easier for search engines to find the key. After uploading, click the Check button in the IndexNow modal. This will open the key file in your browser and confirm that the key is accessible.
After verifying the key, click Save Changes. Your IndexNow integration is now active and will automatically notify search engines whenever your content is updated.
By following these steps, you can ensure that your site is always promptly indexed by major search engines, keeping your content visible and relevant in search results. If you have any questions or run into issues during the setup, feel free to reach out to our support team.
